Pruningmission Fig Trees

A reporter for the Chicago Sentinel, Lauren Adrian (Jennifer Lopez) is sent against his will to investigate this series of murders, and he comes across a girl who miraculously survived the horrific violence which has been brought, and that above all is able to identify her attackers. Thus began a merciless battle with enemies that hide your face behind the economic power and collusion with the political forces in Mexico and the United States.

While one is talking about raising some kind of Great Wall to keep away from the U.S. crowds of desperate people who choose to emigrate from Mexico illegally in hope of better living conditions, on the other hand commercial treaties have enabled the creation of thriving industries that base their profits on economic and non-unionized workforce. The "maquilladoras" factories are in a continuous cycle in Mexican territory employing mainly female workers because they are more adaptable to difficult working conditions and less organized. In the city of Juarez, however, many of these women are life-threatening if it is true (as reported by the film at the beginning) that three women are found dead a week in the small border towns. The background of these crimes is primarily sexual.

Bordertown, written and directed by Gregory Nava, moves on a double track. On the one hand tries to bring before the public a real and pressing problem, the exploitation and violence against women, widespread on the border of Mexico. This is why the film has also had major awards by Amnesty International. On the other hand Bordertown is also a thriller, with the whole arsenal of tricks and twists of its kind. In this case you try to show how the crimes we are talking about are part of a conspiracy on an international scale, to impeach the U.S. senators and even NAFTA, the treaty of free trade between the U.S. and Mexico. These ideals become almost the principals of these deaths, although it is not clear the link between sex crimes and economic exploitation. So political parties are treated fairly at ease and more than one logical step is skipped in favor of a hypothetical smooth flow of the plot.
